ABOUT BRANDON

Brandon is a seasoned executive with deep expertise in scaling and turning around global, enterprise technology companies. In addition to his experience scaling companies in hyper-growth from early-stage to IPO-ready, he has experience successfully leading companies through the dot.com bust, 9/11, and the’08 financial crisis.

He has held senior leadership roles while working with world-class entrepreneurs such as Ben Horowitz and Marc Andreessen at Opsware and Brian O’Kelley at AppNexus; both firms were acquired for $1.6B.  Most recently, he was COO at Monetate, leading a turnaround effort resulting in its acquisition by a Vista Equity Partners company, Kibo Commerce.

Brndon Atkinson

At Monetate, Brandon was accountable for the Customer Success, Services, Product, People, and Operations organizations.  He partnered with the new CEO to hire a new executive team, implement a new business strategy, and reposition the company for growth.

During his tenure at AppNexus the ad tech company scaled from 28 employees to 1,100, and from $8M in revenue to about $300M.  As SVP, Global Services, he grew the organization from 1 to 180 people (plus 100 offshore resources), and was responsible for servicing ~$240M in ARR.  He was accountable for launching offices in London, Paris, Sydney, and Singapore. To apply his talent strategies company-wide, he later became Chief People Officer.  In that role, he rebuilt the team and implemented a new people platform including frameworks for: OKR goal setting, performance management, capability-based interviewing, manager development, and diversity and inclusion.  AppNexus sold to AT&T for $1.6B in 2018.

 

Prior to that Brandon was an early employee at Opsware, a data center automation software provider, which scaled from $6M to $102M in revenue during his tenure.  Initially he was Director, Global Services Operations, where he designed the process, methodology, and systems the organization used during a hyper-growth period. He then built the Education Services group, and managed its P&L, before moving to Romania to launch Opsware’s first offshore engineering office.  He scaled that group from zero to 40 engineers before Opsware was acquired by Hewlett Packard for $1.6B in 2007.  At HP, Brandon led sales go-to-market efforts for the Opsware product-line throughout Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Earlier in his career Brandon led sales and services teams for both Peter Martin Associates, a human services software provider which was acquired by Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), and for CitySoft, a web site development firm.

 

Brandon was a community organizer for AmeriCorps*VISTA in Anchorage Alaska.  He has a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelors with High Honors in History from Rutgers University.

In his spare time, when he is not goofing around with his wife and two boys, Brandon loves playing the banjo, photography, meditation, and endurance hiking (having recently completed all 46 of the Adirondack “High Peaks,” culminating with an epic 35-mile hike with 24,000 ft. of elevation change in 27 hours.
